Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session today (February 20) after meeting with representatives of Hong Kong Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood on constitutional development:
Reporter: Could we have just a brief statement in English?
Chief Secretary for Administration: Well, Francis, this is a continuation of our outreaching efforts to engage individual political parties. We are very pleased to come here and meet with the members and representatives of the political party, and I can say that the atmosphere was generally very good. Both sides expressed a strong desire to be able to deliver universal suffrage in the selection of the Chief Executive in 2017. Members attending this session have expressed to us their concern about the electoral arrangements, and we have listened very attentively to those concerns. I have to say that the general atmosphere was very good and the discussion was very constructive, but it would need a lot more efforts and time in order to narrow the differences.
