SB Youth Uniformed Group Leaders Forum study tour on innovation and technology in Greater Bay Area (with photos)

In the morning, Mr Tang and over 20 members of the Leaders Forum arrived in Dongguan and had a tour at the Humen Fort and the Naval Battle Museum before attending a seminar organised by leaders of the Dongguan Municipal Government. Mr Tang expressed his gratitude for the reception of Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee, Mr Chen Zhiwei and the large amount of work done for the activities of the Leaders Forum in Dongguan. Mr Tang said that the members of the Leaders Forum are distinguished and promising members of the youth uniformed groups of various disciplined and auxiliary services departments under the Security Bureau (SB), and have been chosen as members of the Leaders Forum following rigorous selection. Noting that the members have participated in a wide range of activities and seminars since the establishment of the Leaders Forum in October last year and that the visit to the GBA is the first activity outside Hong Kong, Mr Tang said that the members will be able to know the significant developments of the country in different aspects through the rich programme.
In the afternoon, Mr Tang led the members of the Leaders Forum to visit Huawei's research institute in Songshan Lake to know about the research, training and development of the high-tech enterprise. The group also visited the Songshan Lake Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Start-up Base and were briefed by youths from Hong Kong and Macao on their experiences of starting a business and plans of career development on the Mainland. The group later visited the China Resources (Holdings) Company Limited to understand its diverse development in the evening.
The study tour has a packed itinerary for tomorrow (May 27) and the day after tomorrow (May 28), which includes visits to the headquarters of BYD Company Limited and Tencent in Shenzhen to learn about I&T developments in various fields on the Mainland. The group will also visit Shenzhen University to interact with local university students and know more about the information on further studies and development on the Mainland and visit the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub to exchange views with young entrepreneurs. In addition, the group will visit the Shenzhen Reform and Opening-up Exhibition Hall, the OH Bay and the MixC World to get to know different aspects of the Mainland.
The SB Youth Uniformed Group Leaders Forum was established to carry out the initiative in the Chief Executive's 2022 Policy Address to deepen the participation of government departments and civil service grades in youth work. In the past few months, the SB organised diverse activities for the members, which included the two-day, one-night induction course held at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Tseung Kwan O, and the two-day, one-night event held at the Civil Aid Service Yuen Tun Camp, as well as seminars covering such topics as national security and "one country, two systems". The members also visited the Government Flying Service and a public transport operator to learn about corporate social responsibility. In the coming few months, the SB will continue to arrange field trips to Mainland cities and internship opportunities in the SB for the members of the Leaders Forum to enhance their understanding of the country and broaden their horizons.
