Self-nomination scheme for District Youth Community Building Committee and District Youth Development and Civic Education Committee starts today
******************************************************************************************
The Chief Executive announced in the 2022 Policy Address the launch of a Youth Participation Initiative to engage more young people in public affairs and enhance their interaction and trust with the Government. This new Initiative was also mentioned in the Youth Development Blueprint promulgated recently. One of the measures under the Initiative is for the HAD to open up certain seats of the District Youth Community Building Committee and District Youth Development and Civic Education Committee to be set up in 18 districts for young people to nominate themselves as members.
The HAD encourages young people aged between 16 and 35 who are committed to serving the community to apply for the Scheme. Following the principle of meritocracy, the HAD aims to recruit young people who have a strong commitment to serve the community, a good understanding of district and youth affairs, and good analytical and communication skills to join the two Committees through the Scheme.
The application form and details of the Scheme are available on the website of the HAD (www.had.gov.hk/en/public_services/self_nomination_scheme/index.htm). Applications can be submitted by post, by hand or by email.
Assessment panels will be set up by the 18 District Offices to consider applications for the Scheme. The assessment process is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2023. The HAD will announce the assessment results in due course.
