Among the PAMS 2022 programmes she attended, Mrs Kwok joined the pitching of Hong Kong contemporary dance group "Unlock Dancing Plaza", led by its young Artistic Director, Joseph Lee, and Managing Director, Michael Li.
Mrs Kwok attended and delivered remarks at a dance performance presented by City Contemporary Dance Company. She said, "Under the National 14th Five-Year Plan promulgated by our country in March 2021, Hong Kong is given a new position as 'a hub for arts and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world'. As part of our efforts in realising this important vision, we promote and support cultural exchange activities to showcase our unique and unparalleled programmes to audiences around the world, and to tell the good stories of Hong Kong. With the unwavering support from our country, I am very confident that Hong Kong's arts and cultural scene will continue to thrive."
Mrs Kwok expressed that she was proud to see the staging of the work of Hong Kong arts groups at the international forum, exemplifying the high artistic level and influence of Hong Kong arts groups' work on the global arts scene.
During her visit, Mrs Kwok also met with the Director-General, Culture Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea, Ms Jung Hyang-mi. Mrs Kwok introduced the mission and priority of the newly established Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and exchanged views with Ms Jung on arts and culture developments in Hong Kong.
Mrs Kwok met with the President of the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange, Mr Jung Kil-hwa, Gilbert(o), to discuss the potential of expanding cultural exchanges and collaborations. On supporting cultural exchanges, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has progressively increased funding to support Hong Kong artists to participate in overseas performances and exhibitions since 2018-19 to the current level of $50 million per year.
Concluding the trip, Mrs Kwok met with the President and Chief Executive Officer of Korea Creative Content Agency, Mr Jo Hyunrae, who heads an entity responsible for the promotion of cultural and creative content. Mrs Kwok briefed Mr Jo on the work of Create Hong Kong, and they exchanged views on cross-genre collaboration and industry-making of the arts and culture sector.
Mrs Kwok will continue her trip to attend the World Cities Culture Forum in Finland.
