Temporary Unemployment Relief Scheme meets with overwhelming response on first application day (with photo)
******************************************************************************************
A Government spokesman said today (March 23) that the Temporary Unemployment Relief Scheme (TUR) started off with an overwhelming response on its first day of the three-week application period.

"The online application portal was launched at 8am today and has been operating smoothly throughout the day. Up to 6pm today, we have received a total of over 65 800 applications," the Government spokesman said.

The TUR aims to provide assistance for people who have lost their jobs due to the fifth wave of the epidemic and to reduce their financial stress before they find another job. A one-off subsidy of $10,000 each will be granted to eligible persons. Full-time and part-time employees as well as self-employed persons may apply. Eligible applicants can submit online applications through the application portal at application.tur.gov.hk/en/apply until 11.59pm on April 12 (Tuesday).

Before filling out the online application form, applicants are advised to have ready the information and documents required and read the terms and conditions to ensure that the information to be submitted is complete and meets the vetting requirements. Applicants may refer to the demonstration videos to understand more about the application methods and information required. Links are as follows:

Enquiries can be made by email to enquiry@tur.gov.hk or through the live chat function at the TUR website or the hotline at 183 6128. Since its commencement of operation on March 18, the hotline has received some 62 000 enquiries, covering mainly eligibility and application procedures of TUR.

If applicants need assistance in person, they may schedule an appointment through the hotline (183 6128) and visit one of the five service centres, the addresses and service hours of which are on the TUR website. On their first day of operation up to 4pm today, a total of some 800 members of the public have visited the five centres for enquiries or submission of applications.
