AFCD launches Hong Kong Biodiversity Information Hub (with photos)
******************************************************************
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) launched the Hong Kong Biodiversity Information Hub (HKBIH) (bih.gov.hk/en/home/index.html) today (March 1) aiming to foster a better understanding of local biodiversity by members of the public.

The HKBIH is a one-stop website providing information on local species and biodiversity to members of the public. The HKBIH is being developed in two phases. The first phase includes a Species Database, Multimedia Database, Platform for Education Programmes, and a series of thematic webpages. Photos of over 3 000 species of local wildlife are kept in the Multimedia Database, showcasing the splendours of nature.

The AFCD will continue to publish and update information at the HKBIH, and develop the Biodiversity Geographic Information System in the next phase, in partnership with various organisations in facilitating public understanding of local biodiversity from different perspectives.
