Temporary traffic arrangements at Cross-Harbour Tunnel Kowloon entrance next Monday

The temporary traffic arrangements will mainly include:
Stage 1: from 1am to 1.45am
Three of the traffic lanes at a section of Hong Chong Road near the CHT toll plaza (Hong Kong bound) will be temporarily closed. The remaining left lane will remain open for vehicular traffic.
Stage 2: from 1.45am to 4.30am
All lanes at the section of Hong Chong Road near the CHT toll plaza (Hong Kong bound) will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic. Affected vehicles on Hong Chong Road will be diverted to the platform of Hung Hom Station and Tsim Sha Tsui East before entering the Kowloon entrance of the CHT (i.e. a detour from Railway Approach, On Wan Road, Cheong Wan Road, Science Museum Road and Salisbury Road to the CHT).
During the traffic diversion, the southbound traffic lanes of Salisbury Road between Hong Chong Road and Science Museum Road will be temporarily converted into northbound traffic lanes. Hence, vehicles heading for the Tsim Sha Tsui area will be diverted to Cheong Wan Road, Chatham Road South or the Hung Hom Bypass.
Due to the road closure and traffic diversion, the TD anticipates that Hong Kong-bound traffic of the CHT will become very congested. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience when passing through the section of roads concerned. Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on-site to guide motorists. Motorists may also consider using the Eastern Harbour Crossing or the Western Harbour Crossing to go to Hong Kong Island. Commuters taking public transport are advised to plan their journey in advance and allow more travelling time to avoid delay.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
