SLW encourages young people to pursue their dreams at "Seize the Second" micro movie premiere (with photos)

The micro movie "Seize the Second" was adapted from the stage drama of the same name and based on the encouraging real-life stories of four YETP trainees. Performers of the micro movie included artistes and singers, DJs of RTHK, YETP trainees and RTHK Solar Ambassadors. The trainees featured in the micro movie found their career direction after joining the YETP's on-the-job training. In addition to encouragement and guidance from the employers, case managers and training bodies, their perseverance to overcome challenges enabled them to make a steady progress in their later career path.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Cheung said, "I am very pleased that the success stories of the four YETP trainees are brought to the screen through this micro movie. Their stories demonstrate that opportunities are always there for the well-prepared. Young people who are well-equipped will find their way to a bright future." He said he hoped that more youngsters would be inspired by the micro movie to explore the direction of their personal development and strive hard to achieve their goals.
Mr Cheung encouraged young people to join the YETP, which provides one-stop and diverse training and employment support services for them through the concerted efforts of employers, training bodies and the Government. Supported by a professional and personalised career guidance service, the programme enables young people to better understand their way forward, set their own career goals and enhance their competitiveness in the labour market.
Mr Cheung said he was glad to note that nearly 220 000 young people had benefited from the programme since its inception. While some trainees would pursue further studies, the successful placement rate had reached 70 per cent. The YETP has launched a number of employment projects recently so as to assist those youngsters who lack relevant educational qualifications and work experience to enter the labour market and help nurture young talents for different industries.
Following the gala premiere, the micro movie will be broadcast by RTHK TV 31 and the date will be announced later. It can also be reviewed on RTHK’s website.
Enrolment to YETP is free and open all year round to young school leavers aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment at sub-degree level or below.
