Hong Kong Observatory to hold training course on weather observation
********************************************************************
The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) will hold a weather observation training course in November. Members of the public are welcome to join.

The course will be taught by experienced meteorological personnel of the HKO. The content mainly covers basic weather observation techniques and methods, such as the observation and classification of clouds. Lecturers will also introduce details of various weather phenomena and hazards, the interpretation of weather charts, radar and satellite pictures, as well as the use of weather information on the "MyObservatory" mobile app and the HKO website. Participants will gain a better understanding of the weather, enabling them to take appropriate action in response to its changes. During the course, participants will have opportunities to practise weather observation and weather report coding. They will also learn to make use of the platforms on the Community Weather Observing Scheme (co-win.org/index.php/en or www.facebook.com/icwos) to share weather information.

The course consists of two sessions, to be held on November 19 and 26 from 9.15am to around 12.30pm at the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters respectively. Both sessions will be conducted in Cantonese. The course fee is $130 per person.
