The Kwun Tong Community Health Centre of Kowloon East Cluster was officially opened this afternoon (September 7). Having commenced public service last year, the Centre is the first of its kind in the Kowloon region with a design based on the Government's primary care development strategy and service model. The new centre provides one-stop primary care services to the community through a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, with an annual capacity of over 230,000 general out-patient consultations.
The ceremony today was officiated by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man; the Under Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan; the Hospital Authority (HA) Chairman, Professor John Leong; the HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin; the Kowloon East Cluster Chief Executive, Dr Chui Tak-yi; and the Chairman of the Kwun Tong District Council, Dr Bunny Chan.
In his welcoming address, Professor Leong said, "The multi-disciplinary team in Kwun Tong Community Health Centre will provide health risk assessment and targeted nursing care to patients. They also focus on empowerment for chronic patients to better manage disease progression. In addition, the services of the Centre also cater to the demographic characteristics of the community, such as the provision of a fall prevention programme for the elderly, which is very popular in the district.
"I would like to take today's opportunity to thank the Government for its support to build this Community Health Centre in Kwun Tong District to enhance our primary care services. Furthermore, I would also express my heartfelt gratitude to our community partners, including the District Councils, and the non-governmental organisations and private doctors in the district for their close collaboration."
The Kwun Tong Community Health Centre is located at the Upper Ground Floor, 60 Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong. The Centre is open every Monday to Friday with an Evening Clinic service, and also provides services on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays but without the evening service. The 24-hour telephone booking number for patient consultation is 3157 0687.
