MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for 13 employees

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today ( October 19) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $92,418.08 on behalf of 13 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today's hearing, the defendants, Chow Wah Tak trading as Kwong Fai Transport Co, Yat Shun Logistics Development Company Limited and Hing Lung Garment Laundry and Bleaching Factory Limited, did not appear.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $47,448.42, $40,034.66 and $4,935, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $220, $190 and $300 as the costs in respect of the claims.
