Sheung Shui restaurant ordered to suspend business
**************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sheung Shui to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop 1A, Sunningdale Garden, 8 Chi Cheong Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 2) to February 15, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In October and December last year, there were two convictions in respect of operating unlicensed food business on the pavement in front of the shop and unauthorised extension of food business outside the licensed area at the said food premises.

"A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that there were also two convictions of unauthorised extension of food business outside the licensed area in respect of the same restaurant in July and September last year.

"A total fine of $17,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 24 to 30 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or even cancelled.
