Acting Secretary for Transport and Logistics meets Mayor of Zhuhai Municipal Government (with photos)

     The Acting Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr Liu Chun-san, met the Mayor of the Zhuhai Municipal Government, Mr Huang Zhihao, today (May 19) to exchange views on deepening co-operation between Hong Kong and Zhuhai on logistics and aviation.

     Mr Liu welcomed Mr Huang's visit to the Transport and Logistics Bureau with his delegation. During the meeting, they discussed multiple issues, including the development of a new trade corridor for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB), the promotion of the development of the logistics industry through intermodal transport by sea, land and air, and tapping further synergy from Hong Kong International Airport and Zhuhai Airport.

     Since the full resumption of normal travel between the Mainland and Hong Kong since February this year, the traffic flow via the HZMB has rebounded significantly. With the strong support of the Central Government, the Guangdong Provincial Government, and the Zhuhai Municipal Government in taking forward the Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles, approved Hong Kong private cars will be allowed to travel between Hong Kong and Guangdong via the HZMB starting from July 1. Cross-boundary transport and passenger flows will thus be more frequent and busy. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will continue to strengthen communication with the Zhuhai Municipal Government, striving to better leverage the HZMB and explore new investment and market opportunities. Such co-operation will be conducive to long-lasting and high-quality economic growth for the two places, generating substantial economic benefits in the Greater Bay Area.
