Two Legal Aid Department staff members preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19

One of the staff is a clerical assistant, who works at LAD headquarters on 27/F of Queensway Government Offices and is responsible for handling costing related documents, last performed duties on February 17 without any contact with members of the public. The other staff is an assistant clerical officer, who works at the Kowloon Branch Office (KBO) of LAD on 3/F of Mongkok Government Offices and is responsible for assisting in the gathering of information and documents from the public for the processing of legal aid application, last performed duties on February 16. Both staff had no recent travel history and their body temperatures were normal on the last day of work and had been wearing a mask while performing duties.
The LAD will close the Costing Unit on 27/F of the Queensway Government Offices, and the Application and Processing Unit and Shroff Office of KBO on 3/F of Mongkok Government Offices today for thorough cleansing and disinfection at the premises concerned. In the meantime, all LAD staff of the offices concerned will work from home.
Meanwhile, the Information and Application Services Unit of KBO at the ground floor of Mongkok Government Offices will operate as usual to handle legal aid applications and enquiries. For filing of urgent civil legal aid applications and making payments, members of the public can attend the Information and Application Services Unit on 25/F and the Shroff Office on 27/F of Queensway Government Offices respectively.
The LAD is highly concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic. Staff are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
