Mezzo-soprano Kožená to perform with Basel La Cetra Baroque Orchestra in April

Under the baton of Andrea Marcon, a leading interpreter of the Baroque and Classical periods and harpsichordist, Kožená will perform works by Monteverdi, Merula, Berio and Ivanović with the orchestra. The orchestra will also perform instrumental music by Uccellini, Castello and Marini. The concert will be held at 8pm on April 11 (Wednesday) at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall.
Magdalena Kožená was born in Brno, the Czech Republic, and studied in her hometown and Bratislava. Her profound musicianship attracted critical acclaim from an early age. The 6th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg in 1995 launched Kožená’s successful career and she soon established a reputation as an excellent performer with the ability to hold audiences spellbound. She has since developed a broad repertoire covering Monteverdi, Mozart, Mahler and Martinů, has collaborated with many great musicians and orchestras, and performed in the most prestigious halls and festivals around the world.
Internationally renowned as one of the pre-eminent conductors and harpsichordists of Baroque and early classical repertoire, Andrea Marcon was born in Treviso, Italy. He founded the Venice Baroque Orchestra in 1997 and has led the group to international acclaim. He has been the artistic director of the Basel La Cetra Baroque Orchestra since 2009.
Founded in 1999 with a mission to bring the music of the past to life with a fresh, dynamic and contemporary approach, the Basel La Cetra Baroque Orchestra has worked regularly with many well-known guest conductors and soloists and is recognised as one of the world's leading chamber orchestras of early classical music.
