******************************************************************************************
Archives, which collect documents that recorded matters first-hand, are important materials that show the historical and cultural heritage of a particular time and place. By showcasing replicas of selected documents from the collection of the Second Historical Archives of China, together with historical images, the exhibition looks back on the arduous journey that Dr Sun faced in the early years of the Republic of China.
Highlight exhibits include the "Order issued to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Wong Chong-wai by Dr Sun Yat-sen" to prohibit the export of labourers, the "Letter to the Bank of Communications from the Ministry of Finance of the Beijing government" to confiscate the bank assets of Dr Sun and others accused of treason, and the "Letter written to Chiang Kai-shek by Dr Sun Yat-sen" to explain the importance of the Northern Expedition.
Officiating at the opening ceremony today (October 19) were the Director of the Second Historical Archives of China, Mr Ma Zhendu, and the Acting Museum Director of the Hong Kong Museum of History, Miss Jeremy Hui.
The exhibition, which has free admission and is running until March 28, 2018, is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Second Historical Archives of China, and organised by the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum.
