Military tattoo, uniformed groups' parade and carnivals among highlights of HKSAR 20th anniversary celebration events (with photos)

     The "International Military Tattoo" and the Youth Uniformed Groups' Parade cum Carnival will be held in the coming days to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
 
     Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the "International Military Tattoo" will be staged at the Hong Kong Coliseum from July 13 to 15 (Thursday to Saturday) at 8pm. Tickets priced at $350 and $250 are sold out, while restricted-view tickets at $150 are available.
 
     The programme will provide a splendid showcase of pride and glory that lovers of military band music should not miss. World-famous military bands including the Military Band of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the Military Band of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, the Hong Kong Police Band and other renowned bands from Europe, the United States and other countries in Asia will participate in the performances.

Visitors can meet members of the military bands and take photos with them.
Outdoor Carnival July 15 and 16, 2.30pm to 5.30pm; Piazza, Hong Kong Cultural Centre An outdoor fun day with game stalls and more. Selected visiting military bands and representatives from local disciplined services will perform from 4pm to 5pm.

     To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, over 1 000 members and bands of 14 youth uniformed groups and Junior Police Call will perform in the large-scale Youth Uniformed Groups' Parade cum Carnival on July 16 (Sunday).
 
     Participants of the parade will march from the soccer pitches of Victoria Park to Southorn Playground in Wan Chai at 2pm. Members of the public are welcome to watch the parade along the route.
 
     In conjunction with the parade, a free-admission carnival with game booths and performances by uniformed groups will be held at Southorn Playground from 10am to 5pm. For enquiries, please contact the Hong Kong Adventure Corps at 2792 6486.

     The LINK Centre - Ethnic Minority Cultural Catwalk Carnival, a celebration event featuring ethnic minority costumes and cultural performances, will be held at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Plaza on July 15 (Saturday) from 2pm to 5pm. 

     The roving exhibition of the "Hong Kong in My Eyes" photography competition will also be presented at the carnival. The competition aimed to inspire local teenagers, including those from ethnic minorities, to express their views of Hong Kong through photography.
 
     The photographs reflect the themes of collective memories of Hong Kong and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. All entries of the competition will be displayed for viewing and printed as postcards for distribution to the public for free.

     To share the joy of the 20th anniversary, the HKSAR Government is joining hands with different sectors to organise a wide variety of activities and events under the theme "Together · Progress · Opportunity".

     Altogether, more than 900 events and activities are being presented by the Government and different sectors until the end of 2017.
