Transcript of remarks by STH on Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project (with photos)
***********************************************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks at a media session by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, after inspecting the works progress of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities and the Hong Kong Link Road today (February 9):

Reporter: When will be the expected opening time for the bridge? Is there any arrangement for now that ... how would the immigration control point be in the future?

Secretary for Transport and Housing: For the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, basically it's the usual kind of CIQ (customs, immigration and quarantine) arrangements. So for immigration, for example, you go through the Hong Kong side immigration, and then you enter the other side, depending on whether it's Macau or the Mainland, Zhuhai. The commissioning date has yet to be determined. It all depends on the progress of works. At the moment, whether the main bridge on Mainland waters or the Hong Kong side works, as well as the Macau (and) Zhuhai side works, the objective is to complete the works by the end of this year. That is the current objective among the various sides. But of course, as I said earlier in Chinese, we also need to make sure that we have all the arrangements for cross-boundary traffic to be finalised. So the actual date of commissioning will eventually be determined by the three governments with the guidance of the central task force on the bridge.
