Dedicated portal to collect views on smart city development
***********************************************************
     A dedicated portal (www.smartcity.gov.hk) has been launched by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) to collect public views on developing Hong Kong into a smart city.

     In the 2016 Policy Address, the Chief Executive re-affirmed the Government's commitment to building Hong Kong as a smart city. The OGCIO has commissioned a consultancy study for formulating a smart city blueprint for Hong Kong with the following objectives:

(a) making use of innovation and technology to address urban challenges to enhance city management and improve the quality of living, sustainability, efficiency and safety of the city;
(b) enhancing city attractiveness to global businesses and talents; and
(c) inspiring continuous city innovation and sustainable economic development.

     Stakeholders and the public are invited to submit, through the dedicated portal, suggestions and information on the use of innovation and technology to make Hong Kong a smarter place to live in on or before February 15, 2017. The consultancy company will put forward recommendations to be set out in the smart city blueprint for Hong Kong with reference to the views collected.

     The consultancy study is scheduled to complete by mid-2017. The blueprint to be formulated under the consultancy study will map out short, medium and long term measures up to 2030 for developing Hong Kong into a smart city.
