Outdoor jazz concert to be held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza this Sunday
*******************************************************************************
The jazz groups and musicians taking part in the performances are Idiot Fish 3, HG FunkTronic, Terry Yau Quartet, Sonderins and the duo Veronica Nunes and Ricardo Vogt joined by John Abraham.
Idiot Fish 3 from the United States is led by composer and drummer Wally Schnalle, who has been playing drums for more than 40 years and has performed in numerous festivals. He has released several albums of original compositions using the latest computer and music technology. In the concert, the group will present an intriguing musical performance blending technology with tradition.
Ukulele musician Veronica Nunes and guitarist Ricardo Vogt are both talented Brazilian musicians. Nunes grew up in a musical environment and has been a professional musician since she was 15 years old. Vogt has collaborated with many noted musicians including Rosa Passos. This time the duo will team up with local drummer John Abraham to deliver refreshing jazz music to the audience.
HG FunkTronic, led by popular Korean drummer Kim Hong-gie, will play a new style of Korean jazz with elements of electronic music and hip-hop.
Local group Terry Yau Quartet will present a mix of jazz standards and modern jazz music while the other local group, Sonderins, will give a neo-soul rendition of familiar jazz tunes during the concert.
The outdoor concert is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in association with the Hong Kong Jazz Association. For programme enquiries, please visit the website:
