SCED meets with ASEAN Economic Ministers in Laos (with photos)

Mr So had bilateral meetings respectively with the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Laos, Mrs Khemmani Pholsena; the Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed; the Minister of Commerce of Thailand, Mrs Apiradi Tantraporn; and the Director General of International Trade Cooperation of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, Mr Iman Pambagyo. At the meetings, Mr So exchanged views with them on the Hong Kong, China – ASEAN Free Trade Agreement negotiations and emphasised the committed goal of ASEAN and Hong Kong, China to conclude the negotiations within 2016 since the commencement of negotiations.
After the meetings, Mr So will meet with the Chinese Ambassador to Laos, Mr Guan Huabing.
In the afternoon, Mr So will attend the 1st AEM-HKC Consultations to discuss the progress and target of the Hong Kong, China – ASEAN Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the participating ASEAN Economic Ministers.
In the evening, Mr So will host the opening dinner of the 13th ASEAN Leadership Forum (ALF) and deliver welcoming remarks. The ASEAN leaders including the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Hun Sen; the Prime Minister of Laos, Dr Thongloun Sisoulith; the State Counsellor of Myanmar, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi; and the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, will attend the dinner.
Mr So will speak on “China – Hong Kong – ASEAN Partnership: Growing together for Shared Prosperity” at the ALF tomorrow (August 7). He will also meet with representatives of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Lao Chinese Chamber of Commerce, as well as Hong Kong people in Laos.
