Sport For All Day 2016 set for August 7
***************************************

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold Sport For All Day (SFAD) on August 7 (Sunday) to promote sport for all and to encourage people to exercise regularly. Members of the public can enjoy free recreation programmes at designated sport centres while various fee-charging leisure facilities will also be opened to the public for free use on the day.

     This year's SFAD has adopted the theme "Stay Active  Scale New Heights" to encourage people of all ages and different abilities to participate in various sports activities and develop the habit of exercising at least half an hour a day. It also calls on the community to show support for Hong Kong athletes taking part in major international competitions.

     To add interesting touches to the SFAD activities, the LCSD will continue to set up sports-themed 3D "Photo Fun" Zones at designated venues of the 18 districts in the territory. In the background of some of these zones are action shots of Hong Kong elite athletes, namely billiard star Ng On-yee, talented squash player Annie Au and seasoned bowler Wu Siu-hong. The complimentary service, which allows visitors to take pictures with local sports figures, will enable them to experience the thrill of the games and stimulate their interest in sports. Details of the themes and locations of the zones are listed in the attached Table A.

     On August 7, the LCSD will organise a wide range of free recreation and sports programmes at designated venues in the 18 districts for the public to participate in. These programmes will include:

* Health talks and exercise demonstrations;
* Fitness corners;
* Sports activities for parents and children;
* Activities for people with disabilities; and
* Sports participation sessions.

     Enrolment for the free programmes will commence on July 18 (Monday) at 8.30am at the LCSD District Leisure Services Offices (DLSOs) organising the respective activities in the 18 districts on a first-come, first-served basis.

     For contact details of the DLSOs and designated sports centres in the 18 districts, please refer to the attached Table B.

     Another major SFAD attraction will be the opening up of the LCSD's fee-charging leisure facilities for free use by members of the public on August 7. These facilities include:

* Indoor leisure facilities: badminton courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, netball courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, table tennis tables, billiard tables, sport climbing walls, bowling greens, golf facilities, fitness rooms, activity rooms and dance rooms;
* Outdoor leisure facilities: tennis courts, bowling greens, batting cages, sport climbing walls, archery ranges and golf facilities (excluding camping facilities, sports grounds, and artificial/natural turf pitches);
* Public swimming pools (excluding Wan Chai Swimming Pool); and
* Craft at water sports centres.

     Bookings for free use of the available land-based leisure facilities and craft at water sports centres on August 7 can be made at the Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues (except for self-service kiosks) on July 31 (Sunday) from 9am onwards. Each person can only book one free session on a first-come, first-served basis irrespective of the types of leisure facilities.

     No prior booking is required for public swimming pool facilities. Members of the public may line up at the entrances of the swimming pools for free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.

     The LCSD has also invited the 18 District Councils, National Sports Associations, district sports associations, community sports clubs and community sport organisations, as well as privately run sports clubs and health centres, to organise free activities and offer free facilities for the public to enjoy on August 7 in support of the event.
