Two employers ordered to pay MPF contributions in arrears

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 8) obtained orders in the High Court and District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at more than $1,220,000 against two employers.

     The High Court issued a judgment against Kwai Chuen Container Service Company Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $1,058,725.36, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 30 employees of the defendant.

     The District Court issued a judgment against Kwan Chuk Hong trading as Access Intelligence. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $220,694.37, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to seven employees of the defendant.

     Both amounts will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The High Court and the District Court respectively further awarded payments of $1,550 and $930 as costs in respect of the claims.
