Club-house operators fined
**************************

A man and a woman were fined $3,000 respectively today (May 17) at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts for contravening the conditions of the Certificate of Compliance (CoC).

The court heard that officers of the Licensing Authority of Home Affairs Department (HAD) inspected a club-house on Tak Hing Street, Yau Ma Tei in November last year. The officers found that the layout of the club-house deviated from the registered drawing and the seating exceeded the maximum licensed capacity.

The man and woman who were the CoC holder and manager of the club respectively admitted under caution that the layout of the club had been altered without written permission.

They were found to be in contravention of conditions of the CoC and subsequently charged under Sections 21(2) and 21(1)(a) of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.

An HAD spokesman said that enforcement action would continue to be taken against illegal club-house operations to ensure the safety of patrons of these establishments.
