Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, at a media session before attending the award presentation ceremony of the final of "Free Your Dream Power: Dream Stage 2015" today (September 17):

Reporter: So there are no schoolchildren who have been in contact with the excess lead that was found in that kindergarten in Kwun Tong? And are there any other proper measures that the bureau will take to ...?

Secretary for Education: Yes, as a standing procedure we announced before, it is important the Education Bureau, with this case known to us, right away we have reported to the medical department (Department of Health) to follow up, including their assessment. As I said, for those two particular drinking water tap areas, it is within the World Health Organization's limit. So this is the part. The other important (part) is to make sure the school is made aware of this one through a letter immediately sent out by the bureau to the school, also requesting the school to have immediate communication with parents. Other than this one, the immediate methodology or procedures being adopted, including immediate stop usage of this particular problematic sort of water tap area. The second one is trying to understand the rationale and reason behind; the kindergarten would need to follow up with the owner of the building and try to check on. These are the couple of areas that we are working on. The important thing is, well, both the Education Bureau and the professional departments will need to pay attention to this particular case to see what else we will be able to help.
