Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, on the labour dispute case of Cathay Pacific Airways today (May 27):
Reporter: (About the negotiation talk between Cathay Pacific Airways and its Flight Attendants Union.)
Secretary for Labour and Welfare: The talk in fact has started this morning and they are now breaking for lunch and will resume this afternoon. I think we must give them time and space to talk. The important starting point is we have managed to persuade both sides to get round the negotiation table. This is a very important start because for any labour dispute, misunderstanding can be ironed out through dialogue and communication, not confrontation.
