The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, visited the Hong Kong Police Headquarters today (May 27) to learn more about the Police's work in combating counterfeit currency, the operation of the Headquarters Command and Control Centre (HQCCC) and the operational training for officers.
Accompanied by the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, and the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lo Wai-chung, the Chief Executive visited the Commercial Crime Bureau's Counterfeits Exhibition Room. Through the display of global counterfeit currency and production equipment, visiting officers from other law enforcement agencies can gain a better understanding of counterfeit banknotes. They can exchange experiences in investigation and thereby enhance their capabilities in detecting crime.
The Chief Executive noted that while the situation of counterfeit banknotes in Hong Kong remains stable, the Force would continue to strengthen intelligence exchange and co-operation with various stakeholders.
The Chief Executive was then briefed on the operation of the HQCCC in supporting the command of major Police operations. Building on past experience, the HQCCC has developed into a centre with advanced command and communications technologies and equipment that can enable its efficient and full functioning in future Police operations.
The Chief Executive also observed the training on public events. He said he believes that every police officer is well trained and fully prepared for different operational needs and will discharge their duties professionally and efficiently.
Mr Leung met with officers from crime and operation units to learn more about their work. He commended the officers for their perseverance and dedication, and encouraged them to continue to uphold impartiality and professionalism in combating crime, safeguarding the rule of law and preserving public safety.
