The Community Involvement Musical "Star in Sha Tin Sky", the first production of the Sha Tin Arts and Culture Promotion Committee (STACPC), was staged yesterday and today (December 31) at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall. The musical, which had free admission, was warmly received by an audience of more than 2 000 people.

Inspired by the development of Sha Tin District in the past decades, the STACPC aimed at showcasing the harmonious co-existence of both the traditional inheritance and modernisation of Sha Tin by means of music and drama. The musical featured the encouraging stories of several young people in Sha Tin who pursued their goals in life and came to realise the importance of family love and mutual care in the neighbourhood, and eventually became determined to serve the community in the days to come.

The musical also featured the debut of more than 30 members of the Sha Tin District Council (STDC) and the community, enhancing the sense of belonging of the audience.

The Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui; the Chairman of the STDC, Mr Ho Hau-cheung; the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho; the Vice Chairman of the STDC, Mr Pang Cheung-wai; the Chairman of the Sha Tin Festival Committee 2014, Mr Jacko Lee; the Chairman of the STACPC, Mr Gary Yeung; and the Vice Chairman of the STACPC, Mr Wong Kwai-Yau, as well as other guests officiated at the ceremony of the musical this afternoon.
