Members of the public are invited to visit the "Exhibition of Primary School Students' Creative Visual Arts Work (2013/14)" to be held from tomorrow (June 27) to July 21 at the Education Bureau (EDB) Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.
The exhibition, organised by the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute of the EDB, aims to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity and artistic abilities in visual arts, and promote communication among students, teachers and the public.
Around 600 works of art will be on display. The exhibits, which have been selected from 1,477 entries submitted by 145 primary schools, cover different topics and a wide range of media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, media art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and design.
In order to encourage more students of different ages to submit their entries, the participants are categorised into two age groups: 6 to 8 years old and 9 years old or above. In each age group, gold prizes, silver prizes and certificates of merit are awarded to winning works in four areas, namely two-dimensional work, three-dimensional work, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and media art.
The adjudicators selecting the exhibits and the awarded entries are art or art education professionals, including Mr Chris Chan, Ms Choi Yan-chi, Mr Yeung Wai-fung and Dr Francis Yu, as well as representatives of the Arts Education Section. The selection criteria comprised creativity, aesthetics, manipulation of techniques and media, and communication.
