The director of Well Rich Limited was sentenced at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (February 7) to four weeks in jail, suspended for 18 months, under the Employment Ordinance.
The company failed to pay wages and termination payments within seven days after the expiry of the wage period and termination of employment as required by the Ordinance. Furthermore, the company also failed to pay the awarded sums to the employee within 14 days after the specified date and the award date of the Labour Tribunal awards. The total amount involved was about $94,000.
The director was convicted for his consent, connivance or neglect in the wage offences and defaulting on payment of Labour Tribunal offences.
