Tenders invited for Phase 1 improvement works at Mui Wo

     The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (August 9) invited tenders for the contract for Phase 1 improvement works at Mui Wo. The project aims to enhance the road safety as well as the recreational and tourism potential of the area.

     The works mainly comprise:

* construction of a 230-metre-long and 11.5m-wide segregated pedestrian walkway and cycle track along the waterfront between Mui Wo Cooked Food Market and River Silver;
* construction of a 35m-long and 4.8m-wide footbridge across River Silver;
* construction of a civic square near Mui Wo old town provided with associated landscaped area, recreational and leisure facilities and a performance venue;
* construction of seven amenity areas in villages at Mui Wo; and
* ancillary works including information boards, signage, landscaping, drainage and utility works.

     The works are scheduled to commence in November this year for completion in January 2016.

     The CEDD has commissioned Jacobs China Limited to design and supervise the works. Interested contractors may obtain the tender forms and other particulars from Jacobs China Limited at 15/F, Cornwall House, Taikoo Place, 979 King's Road, Quarry Bay.

     The invitation to tender was gazetted today. The closing time for the tender is noon on September 27. Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box at G/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar.
