The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Housing conducted a site visit to a public housing construction site and two public housing estates today (July 29) to observe various aspects of public rental housing.
Accompanied by the Deputy Director (Development and Construction) of the Housing Department, Ms Ada Fung, participating Members visited the construction site of the public rental housing development at Tseung Kwan O Area 65B and received a briefing on the Public Housing Development Programme, project management and design; the procurement, quality, safety and environmental management system; and construction management, quality assurance and performance monitoring.
Members then visited Yau Lai Estate Phase 5 in Yau Tong to learn more about the green initiatives adopted in the Estate, including photovoltaic panels; rainwater recycling; vertical greening; waste sorting on domestic floors; noise mitigation measures and twin roof tanks and W-traps.
At the last stop, Members visited Kwai Luen Estate in Kwai Chung and were briefed on the use of communal terraces for recreation on that narrow site with limited external area.
Members of the Panel participating in the site visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Mr Wong Kwok-hing, Mr Gary Fan, Mr Tony Tse, and non-Panel Members, Ms Emily Lau and Mr Ip Kin-yuen.
