The Forum, which bought together over 20 cloud computing experts from Hong Kong and the Mainland, explored opportunities and shared the latest information on development of cloud computing in Hong Kong and Guangdong, with a view to promoting awareness and adoption of cloud services in both places.

Addressing the forum, Miss Ho said, "In the National 12th Five-Year Plan, the development of innovation and technology is elevated to a very important strategic level. In the past year, the Mainland and Hong Kong have strengthened collaboration along this direction. We have co-organised a series of cloud computing expert and technical exchange activities. The Hong Kong/Guangdong Expert Committee on Cloud Computing Services and Standards was also established to promote the development of cloud computing and formulate relevant standards and practices.

"With this forum, I hope that we can foster closer connection and exchange among government, industry, academia and research institutions in the two places, and create a collaborative environment conducive for development of innovation and technology."

In today's forum, the Senior Vice President of Beijing Cloud Valley, Mr Wang Chao; the Founder cum Director of iASPEC Technologies Limited, Dr Wong Chung-kiu; and the Chief Engineer of GDEI, Ms Chen Shaomei, gave keynote addresses on the development opportunities of cloud computing in the Mainland, as well as the trends and challenges of Hong Kong-Guangdong co-operation. Industry leaders also shared their success stories on the development and deployment of cloud services.

There were two discussion panels in which cloud service providers and users had in-depth exchanges on the best practices for provision of cloud services and the keys to success for cloud adoption.

The forum was broadcast online in real time using a cloud platform. Videos of the sharing by the speakers will also be uploaded to the InfoCloud portal (www.infocloud.gov.hk) for public viewing and reference.
