Transcript of remarks by CE-elect
*********************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive-elect (CE-elect), Mr C Y Leung, at the lobby of West Wing, Central Government Offices, this afternoon (June 21):

Reporter: (About the glass canopy outside his house on the Peak and the Legislative Council voting down the motion.)

CE-elect: I tender my apologies to the public for the installation of a glass canopy which was outside my house over a part of the garden. It was not intended and I never tried to sort of hide this installation from members of the public. Indeed, members of the media and many of my friends have been invited to my house and were given a tour of my vegetable garden which was right next to this glass canopy. And for that reason, many media organisations in Hong Kong have file photographs or video footage of myself tending the garden with this glass canopy in the backdrop.

But in any event, I tender my apologies to the public for this oversight and it was not intended. And as soon as I realised that this glass canopy was not in total compliance with the building regulation, I asked a contractor to go up to my place to have it demolished and it was demolished within hours yesterday afternoon. On the question of the motion being voted down in LegCo just now, I'll need to sit down with my colleagues to map out what we will do next in the afternoon.

Reporter: (About the reorganisation proposal.)

CE-elect: It's something that we need to assess. We haven't had enough time to give it a full assessment. As soon as we know what we'll do next, we'll make it public.
