The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will lead a delegation to visit Taipei between May 14 and 16 in his capacity as the Honorary Chairperson of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council (ECCPC) to officiate at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office (HKETCO).
Mr Tsang will arrive at Taipei in the afternoon of May 14, and will officiate at the opening ceremony of the HKETCO on May 15 in his capacity as ECCPC Honorary Chairperson. He will also attend a large-scale publicity event organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board to tie in with the HKETCO opening.
On May 15, Mr Tsang will meet with the Chairman of the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council (THEC), Mr Lin Chen-kuo, to review the outcomes achieved by the ECCPC and the THEC since their establishment, and to exchange ideas on the way forward for developing further co-operation between the two sides.
While in Taiwan, Mr Tsang will meet people from the local economic, trade and financial sectors and relevant personnel from the Taiwan authorities to promote multifaceted exchanges between the two places. He will also visit Taiwan cultural and creative industries and facilities.
Officials joining the visit include the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan; the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law; the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Raymond Young; and the Under Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok. They will attend the relevant events in their capacities as Vice Chairperson or Director of the ECCPC.
