The Government today (December 30) announced the appointment of four new members and the re-appointment of six members to the Appeal Board panel, which is established under section 15 of the Toys and Children's Products Safety Ordinance, for a term of two years with effect from Sunday (January 1, 2012).
The newly appointed members are Professor Chan Chi-hou, Ms Carmen Choi Ka-man, Ms Lam May-lin and Mr Tang Ying-wai.
The panel's membership for the new term is as follows (with effect from January 1, 2012):
Chairman
Mr Rene Hout
Deputy Chairman
Ms Lam May-lin
Members
(1) Scientists or technologists with relevant expertise in toys and children's products:
Professor Chan Chi-hou
Dr Choi Shiu-hong
Dr Lau Kam-hing
(2) Representatives from toys and children's products industry:
Miss Carmen Choi Ka-man
Ms Ngan Ming-yun
Mr Tang Ying-wai
(3) General public:
Mr Lo Siu-kit
Miss Annie Lo Yik-woon
Any person who is aggrieved by enforcement decisions or actions taken by the Commissioner of Customs and Excise under the Toys and Children's Products Safety Ordinance may appeal to the Appeal Board. The Board will then be convened to hear the appeal. The Board shall consist of the chairman or deputy chairman of the panel, who shall be the chairman of the Board, and one representative from each of the member categories of the panel.
