Following is a transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, at a media session at the Legislative Council today (October 26):
Reporter: Has the $6,000 scheme been going smoothly?
Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury: The scheme has been going smoothly. So far, we have received 3.2 million applications. As I said, the banks are starting to put the money into the accounts today. The first batch of Hong Kong citizens, aged 65 or above, will be receiving $6,000 within the next eight working days. So the scheme has been going smoothly.
