Proposed road works for future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (December 10) on proposed road works to facilitate future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station.

     The general nature of the proposed works is as follows:

(i) construction of a covered footbridge with associated foundations and supporting columns across Mei Tin Road to connect the property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Depot with the future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station;

(ii) construction of a covered footbridge with associated foundations and supporting columns across Che Kung Miu Road to connect Chui Tin Street with the future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station;

(iii) modification and extension of the existing covered footbridge at the junction of Che Kung Miu Road and Mei Tin Road (the Footbridge) to facilitate its connection to the future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station; 24-hour public access will be provided;

(iv) modification of parts of the existing public transport interchange within the future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station;

(v) modification of the existing bicycle parking to be open 24 hours for public use along Che Kung Miu Road;

(vi) permanent closure and realignment of sections of Chui Tin Street footpaths and carriageway to facilitate its conversion from a public road to a private access and reprovision of sections of footpaths to be open 24 hours for public access within the future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station;

(vii) permanent closure and demolition of part of the existing covered footbridge, footpath, cycle track, escalator, staircase, pedestrian and bicycle ramp and the existing bicycle parking thereunder on the northern side of the Footbridge and provision of public pedestrian access and ancillary facilities to be open 24 hours within the future property development on Ma On Shan Line Tai Wai Station;

(viii) permanent closure and demolition of the former Tai Wai Station Bus Terminus; and

(ix) ancillary works including associated utilities and reinstatement works.

     A plan showing the extent of the proposed works and a scheme description can be seen at the following government offices:

(a) Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong;

(b) Sha Tin District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin, New Territories; and

(c) District Lands Office, Sha Tin, 11th floor, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin, New Territories.

  Any person who wishes to object to the works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before February 8, 2011.
