Appointments to Consumer Legal Action Fund Management Committee

     The Government today (December 3) announced the re-appointment of Mr Samuel Chan Ka-yan, Dr John Chai Yat-chiu, Mr Godfrey Lam Wan-ho and Ms Connie Lau Yin-hing, and the new appointment of Mr Anderson Chow Ka-ming, Mr Kenneth Wong Wing-yan, Dr Angela Ng Lai-ping, and Ms Jessica Young Yee-kit to the Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund.

     The appointments will be for a term of two years with effect from December 6.

     "We are grateful to Mr Chan, Dr Chai, Mr Lam and Ms Lau for their continuous support to the management committee.  We are confident that together with the new members, the management committee will continue to manage the fund efficiently and in a manner that best serves the interest of the community," a government spokesman said.

     "We also express our deepest gratitude to the retiring Chairman, Professor Johannes Chan Man-mun, who has made invaluable contribution to the management committee in the last 12 years. We are grateful to the retiring members, Miss Anita Ma Wing-tseung, Miss Cecilia Woo Lee-wah and Dr Yu Wing-tong, for their dedicated service on the management committee during the past six years," the spokesman added.

     The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to meritorious consumer cases for legal action or other forms of assistance.

     The Consumer Council is the trustee of the fund. The management committee assists the Consumer Council in managing the fund and determining the eligibility of applications under the fund.
