Eight employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 10) pursued eight claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $120,000 on behalf of 22 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     The eight defendants, Far Grace Limited, Full Gain Industries Limited, Chan Keung Wah trading as Jenson Transportation Company, Manchester Bykas Limited, Lau Kwok Leung trading as Ace Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co, Stephen Finley trading as Finley & Co, Kiss My Kids Limited and Vinfair Cargo Survey Co, Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $42,881.11, $31,757.58, $26,033.94, $9,471, $7,392, $3,902.89, $1,260 and $430.50, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded at the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $208, $165, $328, $106, $129, $129, $145 and $95.
