The Government today (June 13) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Democratic Republic of the Congo) (No.2) Regulation 2008. The regulation comes into immediate effect.
¡°The regulation implements sanctions against the Democratic Republic of the Congo imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1807,¡± a Government spokesman said.
The sanctions under the regulation include:
* prohibition against the supply, delivery and carriage of arms and related materials to persons operating in the territory of the DR Congo;
* prohibition against the provision to such persons of assistance, advice or training related to military activities;
* prohibition against making available to or for the benefit of certain persons or entities any funds or other financial assets or economic resources; and
* prohibition against entry into or transit through the HKSAR of certain persons.
