Clubhouse operators fined
*************************

Two clubhouse operators were fined $4,000 and $2,000 respectively today (December 12) at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Court for contravening the Club (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.

The court heard that the Office of the Licensing Authority (OLA) of the Home Affairs Department inspected a clubhouse on Fa Yuen Street and another one on Nathan Road in Mong Kok in May and June respectively this year. The officers found that the layout of both premises had deviated from the registered drawing without permission.

The operators were in contravention of the conditions of the Certificate of Compliance and subsequently charged under section 21(2) of the ordinance.

The department will continue to take strict enforcement action against non-compliance cases.
