Employment agent jailed over forgery and fake letters

    An employment agent was yesterday (October 29) jailed for four months after being convicted of charges relating to a forged document and fake letters.
 
     Wong Kam Yin, 44, pleaded guilty in Sha Tin Magistrates¡¯ Court to one count of forgery and three counts of using a copy of a false instrument while processing entry visa applications of foreign domestic helpers for employers in Hong Kong.

     Wong admitted that in April last year, on an entry visa application of a foreign domestic helper, she produced a photocopy of false financial proof of her client to the Immigration Department to support an entry visa application. In July, 2004, and November, 2006, she prepared two false letters  urging Immigration Department to speed up the process of two entry visa applications.
 
     "Under the Laws of Hong Kong, it is an offence to use or make a copy of false instrument. Upon conviction, the maximum penalty is imprisonment for 14 years."
