The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 10) obtained four orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $520,000 against four employers in the District Court. Meanwhile, the MPFA pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $30,000 on behalf of 15 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The District Court today issued judgments against four employers, namely, City Pipe Technologies (Hong Kong) Limited, Bond Tak (Holdings) Limited, Foh Shing Engineering Factory Limited and Ever Sun Travel Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $212,123.52, $181,879.96, $71,649 and $63,123.96, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to six, seven, two and two employees of the defendants respectively.

At the Tribunal's hearing today, the defendant, Citi-Pro Security Services Co, Limited, did not appear. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $38,580.93, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the Tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the Tribunal respectively further awarded payments of $930 for each District Court case and $260 as the cost in respect of the claims.
