MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for six employees

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 4) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $86,000 on behalf of six employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today's hearing, four defendants, New Data World Systems Limited, Sun Wing Transportation (HK-China) Limited, Waheungai Company Limited and Wah Tai Farm Company Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of¡ç33,635.02, $22,120, $9,031.08 and $5,491.41, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other defendant, Mo Chi Man and Chan Tsz Man Galinar trading as Express Property Development Consultants, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $16,198.53, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $270, $120, $110, $90 and $170 as the costs in respect of the claims.
