Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at the question-and-answer session of the media session at the Office of the Chief Executive at Tamar today (August 13):
Reporter: Mr Leung, you said the Government is concerned about the lead water scare and the Commission only consists of two members, so why has it taken a month to announce the members of the Commission?
Chief Executive: We need to determine the Terms of Reference of the Commission and also we need to find two suitable Commissioners. And incidentally, the number of Commissioners being two in this case is the same as the number of Commissioners to conduct the Lamma incident inquiry, so there is nothing unusual about having two Commissioners. And on the question of the time taken, again the time taken to form this Commission is similar to the time taken to form the Lamma incident Commission.
I also have to add that because we have given the Commission a very wide brief, and as I said I expect the Commission to come back with a report in about nine months, so both Commissioners are expected to be pretty heavily committed in the next nine months.
