Kai Tak Development creates urban green network (with photos)
******************************************************

With a core design concept of "vigour and vitality", the Kai Tak Development project has incorporated substantial greening elements. Thematic plants have been planted extensively in the district to create a pleasant urban green network.

The Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr Daniel Chung, made the above remarks today (July 3) while officiating at a ceremony entitled the "Kai Tak Development - Stage 2 Infrastructure Works at North Apron Area of Kai Tak Airport Community Planting Day".

Nearing completion, the Stage 2 infrastructure works have formed seven pieces of land for public/private residential developments and provided the required public facilities such as roads, drains, sewers and water mains. The project also included planting about 150,000 plants. Roads and amenity areas have been decorated with various kinds of plants to create an attractive visual effect and a comfortable greening area for the public.

"The planting activity today not only marks a new page for the Kai Tak Development, but also provides an opportunity to promote community participation in greening activities and enable the public to know more about our project to create a sustainable and green network," Mr Chung said.

About 30 teachers and students of SKH Ching Shan Primary School and SKH Yat Sau Primary School also participated in the planting activity today to help build a green community.

Other officiating guests at the event included the District Officer (Kowloon City), Mr William Tsui; the Chairman of the Kowloon City District Council, Mr Lau Wai-wing; and the Vice Chairman of the Kowloon City District Council, Mr Pun Kwok-wah.
