Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session in Chicago today (June 10, Chicago time):
Reporter: Actually one of the goals for this event today is to enlarge a larger market in Hong Kong for American trade ....
Chief Executive: I can only hear a part of you. It's a bit noisy in the background. Could you try to speak up a little bit?
Reporter: Actually, one of the goals of this event today is to enlarge the market in Hong Kong for American products and I wish to know what your opinion is on electronic business, for example like Internet business and other trade? Thank you.
Chief Executive: We are targeting a whole range of business collaboration opportunities with Chicago business sectors and by extension the whole of the United States. The message that we bring, the key message to bring to Chicago and American businesses, is this: we have and we offer the combined advantages of "One Country" and "Two Systems". We are part of China, which is a fast-growing major economy in the world, and at the same time we practise the other system, which no other Chinese cities practise. Secondly, we are the "super-connector" between the rest of the country, China, and the rest of the world, and Hong Kong does that very well and we would like to introduce Mainland Chinese business opportunities to Chicago and American businesses.
