The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (March 1) visited Sha Tin District to learn about the latest developments in the district and meet with Sha Tin District Council members and young people.
At noon today, Mr Tsang visited the Integrated Vocational Development Centre of the Vocational Training Council at Ma On Shan to exchange views with tens of youths. He encouraged young people to strive to enhance their knowledge and achieve their dreams with vision, innovation and commitment, regardless of the career they are pursuing.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the Sha Tin District Council, Mr Ho Hau-cheung, and the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho, Mr Tsang then met with Council members to listen to their views about various developments in the district and other related issues.
Mr Tsang proceeded to Sha Tin Sports Ground at Yuen Wo Road in the afternoon and officiated at the Sha Tin Festival Lantern Festival Parade. The parade was one of the events of the Sha Tin Festival 2014. The parade signified a blend of tradition and modernity by illustrating the culture of walled villages and the cosmopolitan and vibrant side of Sha Tin.
Thirty-five teams from local groups and professional bodies with more than 1 000 performers took part in the parade and performances. The performing groups came from a Rural Committee, primary schools, secondary schools, youth organisations, residential organisations, elderly centres, sports associations and more.
