The Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) Trades Expo - Manpower Recruitment, will be held at VTC Kwai Chung Complex from February 28 to March 1, providing one-stop and latest information on E&M engineering job opportunities and prospects as well as education and training pathways.
The Expo is organised by the Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Trade Promotion Working Group, which is formed by 19 government departments, public agencies, public utility organisations, trade associations and unions with the aim of promoting the professional image of Hong Kong's E&M engineering personnel and the development of the trades.
Seventeen participating organisations will provide more than 1,000 vacancies in various positions such as trainee and technical personnel. The majority of jobs offer a monthly salary ranging from $7,000 to $16,000 requiring a Secondary 3 level or above, while relevant work experience is not essential. Job seekers can submit applications on the spot.
A number of booths will be set up to provide information on the vocational education and training programmes of E&M trades as well as various subsidy schemes. They include the Pilot Training and Support Scheme organised by the Vocational Training Council, which will be launched this year to provide integrated vocational education and on-the-job training opportunities. Candidates will receive an allowance of about $100,000 under the scheme. A number of on-the-job training subsidy programmes offered by the Construction Industry Council, such as the Contractor Cooperative Training Scheme and the Apprenticeship Subsidy Scheme, will also be introduced at the Expo.
There will also be exhibitions and career talks on the demand of various corporations for E&M technical personnel. People who are interested in a career in the trades should not miss this opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the industry's development and prospects.
During the Expo, the cast of the RTHK TV series "Engineering, Life and Dream" will also share their experience in the programme's production.
The Expo will be held at the Assembly Hall, 2/F, VTC Kwai Chung Complex, 13-19 San Kwai Street, Kwai Chung (MTR Kwai Fong Station Exit A), from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free. For details, please visit the Expo website (www.emengineering.com.hk).
